I am now ready to buy the last link of my cnc mill conversion - power supply. I believe a 24v is the ideal thing for my setup. I am using a Hobby CNC 4 axis board with 3 stepper motors; 5.4VDC 1.5A I think thats what is needed here. WHen i select a power supply is there some factor i need to look for or anything? Would this one work? http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=12418+PS |

| Voltage and current rating. Is that the voltage and current rating for each phase of each stepper? If so, then you'll be better off with a supply with a higher current rating....3steppers X 2 phases per stepper X 1.5 amps perphase = 9 amps. With PWM you can probably by with 4.5 amps....but you'll be at the limit....Not sure what the Hobby CNC max voltage is....but a 48 volt supply at 10 amps would be your best bet. Plus since you have a 4-axis card...you could support an additional stepper. |
