| Hello. We moved our shop into a different unit that had single phase. Before we moved, the building owners put in 200 amp 3 phase power. During a span of several months we've had various machinery problems that all seem to have something electrical involved. We're wondering if there could be anything wrong w/the supplied power that could cause these sorts of problems. For example, our air compressor blew a transformer. Star screw machine blew a fuse. Encoder went out on a mill. Solenoid out on a newish lathe. Now we have a bad motor on a mill. There were other issues and some with the lighting that the electrician replaced. He was "getting" his license when he was working on our unit and there were other things that didn't seem right at the time. Just wondering if there could be anything wrong that might cause this sort of thing. We're asking around to find someone who could look at it but I thought I'd run it by here as well. Thanks, Chel |

| You might also after checking voltages go to harbor freight and buy a $ 20 infrared temp gun. You may have a loose connection somewhere on one of the supply wires that is arcing; if so, it will make voltage spikes that can damage stuff hooked up to it. shooting every wire connection you can find from the power input to the building out to the CB box and beyond will often show a loose connection as it will have resistance and so be hotter than the temp of everything around it. |
