Hi all. I am now ready to buy myself a power supplie for my plasma table. At the moment I have two stepper motors. One motor is 1200oz 6Amps 2.7Volts and one motor is 270oz 2.8Amps 3.75 Volts. I have two brand new Geckodrive G202's to run these. I will also be purchasing a breakout board as well. So I think that the power supplie for my application would have to be in the 50Volts range, and about 6Amps + 2.8Amps = roughly 9Amps. I will also be running an extra 270 oz stepper later on for Torch Height Control. That would bring the total Amps to 9Amps + 2.8 Amps = roughly 12Amps. So therefore I need a power supplie that puts out 50Volts and 12Amps. I also need a 5Volt supplie for the Geckodrives as well, I think. 1. Is this correct? 2. Where can I buy myself a power supplie of the shelf ready to go? 3. Anyone know of a place online? I am a bit confused as I think the Geckodrives will only draw 2/3rds of the rated current of each stepper motor. That means that the 1200oz 6Amp motor will only be 4Amps??????????????????????? Need some help, in Australia! Cheers Peter Apalais (Apples ) |

| I don’t know if you need the 5V for the geckos or not but one way although not off the shelf but quite simple would be to use a USB port to get 5V from the computer, by cutting the end of an old lead. link for pin numbers http://www.networktechinc.com/technote.html |

| Here's a few close ones: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lucent-48V-DC-Po...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/C-I-TRANSFORMER-...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LAMBD...66859759QQrdZ1 The bigger the supply, the more they cost. Imagine that! |
