HI All, I was wondering if any DRO experts here can shed some light on what I am trying to do.. I have been trying to determine if I can interface a Linear Magnetic scale, such as a renishaw (data sheet: http://www.rls.si/document/LM15D01.pdf) with one of the display units usually found on Ebay, like for example this one: mTECH 2 axis 4-Milling or Lathe or replace others DRO? - eBay (item 220727553361 end time Feb-18-11 19:56:26 PST) Looking at the specs, they seem to have a compatible wiring scheme, and from the looks of it, the signals seem acceptable. I am not an expert on the TTL RS422 signals which I guess many of the linear or magnetic scales put out, so I can not make any more assumptions as to these working together or not, and I was wondering anyone here with more knowledge can chime in? Are there some special protocols or signals that would prevent these two for example for playing together? I know, that one can also acquire the DRO displays as kits with glass scales, but they are too bulky, and sometimes installation is not the easiest in the world. Magnetic scales are much smaller, and much easier to install, but one rarely finds them together....I was wondering if there is a reason? Thoughts?

| I don't see any input specs on the mTECH unit? But apart from the need to be RS422 compatible, the display has to be scalable to the linear scale resolution. Al.
