I have an Atlas/Craftsman 12" lathe. I want to drive the leadscrew with a stepper. The carriage weighs perhaps 25 lbs. The maximum carriage speed I can imagine would be 1"/sec which requires the stepper to make 8 revs/sec. If I can have speed or torque, I prefer torque. How do I size a stepper for this? |
