Hi I have a projet to convert a press drill but having the the part moved as a cnc. So it's mainly a fix speed tabletop drill and i need to have the RPM readout of the main shaft. So by not having a controller on it (turn on and it power up directly) How can i mesure the speed change when drilling to monitor .. like the torque and have a constant readout? Thank in advance |

Hi.. As I am a retired insturment tech and I can help you. You need a shaft encoder...which can be a wrap or a disc. Possibly you could drill a center hole in the end of the shaft driving the chuck or mount a wrap around a part of the rotating shaft and feed to an electronic measuring device. Tachometers - AP1000 - Electro-Sensors, Inc. I have no idea of price but I know it will work for you. As the drill becomes loaded and if speed drops...it will be noted on a digital readout and be very accurate! Electro sensors have every size and every application. Good Luck Drgee133@aol.com |

| Hi So thanks for the info, of course the option of the shaft tachometer pointing the top of a circular disc around the chuck could be a good idea. Also, is an opto could be better vs an sensing one ... And finally, about the output of the device, basically, it will generate a tach signal and i will be able to hook up any small lcd display that just need a tach input or even: wrap the cable around the tach output cable of the sensor. Thanks again |
