I have two pilot lights rated 110VAC and I want to install them on the control station for my CNC. Would they work if I supply them with 30-40VDC? Also I have a toggle switch rated 10A, 250VAC which I want to control 8 LED lights. Would this switch work if I connect it to 12VDC? |

| The switch will work OK. The lights may not be bright enough to be practical. Al.

| Thank you Al The only place I know in Montreal to get electronics is Acces Electronique and even that is not one of the best. They have pilot lights in either 12VDC or 110 / 250VAC. Since my power supply is 40VDC I though that I will burn the 12VDC lights. Would you happen to know a good online electronic place to get ON/OFF push button switch, pilot lights etc.? Some in US they dont deliver in Canada

| You could add a resistor in series with the light to reduce the current to an acceptable level so the 12V bulb would not burn out. Resistor value should be roughly 2.5 times the resistance of the lamp, watch to make sure the resistor is rated for enough power too! Matt |

| One of the best suppliers I have found is DigiKey, they ship to Canada next day air with no brokerage charges, if order is over $200. shipping is free, otherwise $8. In Canada, Electrosonic is not bad, Newark are the most expensive I have found. Al.

| Active Components has a location in Montreal. In a pinch I shop there, especially when I want to actually see an object before purchasing. Digikey and Mouser ship quickly and easily to Canada, free shipping as Al said for orders over $200, still cheap for smaller orders. I substantially reduced my purchases from Electrosonic when they closed their local sales counter and warehouse. |
