Step up/Step Down transformers is there a difference

I am in need of a transformer to take 240 3ph to 460 3 phase. Can the same transformer be used to step up or step down based on the coil winding ratio

For the most part you should have no problem, some manufacturers have a compensation winding on the secondary, which could affect the efficiency or ratio slightly.
I have often done it with no apparent problems.

You should be OK, just make sure that the low voltage side can handle the current:

I_low_v = I_hi_v * (V_hi_v / V_low_v)

So your 240V current will be about 2X your 460V current.

thanks for the info. I ended up buying a transformer from Sunbelt to go from 240 delta to 460. I got a 30 KVA unit which is more than sufficient. It cost for $750.
