Chosing a motor control system | | Hello all. I am just getting into building my own Solsylva CNC. I plan on making it more or less by the book but will add 4th axis that can serve as a turntable or a lathe. I have not built anything just yet as I am building up my tool kit to make the thing. I have plenty of background in electronics (associates of applied science degree in electronics and 3 years vocational) so I am not much concerned with ease of use or anything but I am kinda lost in trying to pick my drives and crap. I am trying to decide if I should go with a Xylotex 4 axis system with 425oz motors or buy a G540 Gecko drive and add on motors and a PSU from there. Both seem like great systems and have plenty of features but I just don't have any experience with these brands. The Xylotex has everything needed more or less but the Gecko is a lot more...professional. Any input on choices ignoring money (hypothetically )? |
