I have 3 drivers based upon this chip and I was looking at the PicStep which also uses this chip. The cost of the chip at DigiKey is 20.00+ but I can get it on eBay for 15.00 since 2 are required per axis the cost can get up there quickly. The only problem I have with the eBay purchase is the item location is overseas. Has anyone ever purchesed raw chips from overseas? Is there anything limiting I should be aware of with this chip? Thanks for the help. |

| The chip is available from Newark for about $17. Have you considered the tb6560 instead? The chip cost $5 and no micro-controller is required. You can probably order a complete board from Ebay for less than the price of a pair of lmd18245s. |
