Hello,
For some time, we've been developing a DC brush motor controller for applications at the top end of the broadcast camera area. Specifically in regard to pan/tilt heads in that area. We've achieved what we consider to be quite good control and are progressing in that area.
It's also been in the back of our minds that applications in CNC would require similar motor control. I've been looking about this web page and can see several drives by Gecko etc who have obviously been doing this for some time. Some appear to be more analog whilst others appear to use fairly simple microcontrollers which we're familliar with.
We've actually used a quite powerfull 16 bit micro specifically for motor control for our application. I see some benifit for this area. Before we persue the Home CNC area however, I'd like to know if there's room for another drive. Also, rather than re-invent the wheel, we'd like to align ourselves with one of the many software vendors for CAD/CAM.
Does anyone have an opinion on that? |
