Hi, I'm new to these stuffs. I plan to use for CNC duties. Help will be much appreciated. The Toroid transformer in question. ![]() ![]() I got it from a UPS power-off delay. The unit says 650VA and there's a marking that says "LPTP500-20". The two red wires were joined together. My questions are: 1. We're a 220V country. What should I use from the 3 primary wires for my 220V input? colors are BLUE, RED, WHITE. 2. As you can see, there are 5 secondary wires. From the picture: Orange - Orange - Grey - Brown - Blue. What should I use to get the 12 - 0 - 12 configuration assuming secondary is 12V? If it's of any help, the RED wires were connected to the + terminal of the unit's 12V battery. The WHITE and BLUE ones were plugged into the unit's board. The cream connector was plugged into the board as well, which has "BATTERY" marking inline with the RED terminal and a "GROUND" marking where the GREY wire is. Thanks you so much in advance. Newbie here, Jordan |

| The first thing to do is identify all separate windings by resistance check, once you have established the primary winding and in this case you would really need to do a bit of reverse engineering on what the primary voltage was that fed it, once you have this you can hot up the primary and test the voltage on the secondaries. | Al, That's the first thing I should've done (instead of posting a message first in hope of getting a shortcut answer). Now off to the elec-shop for my first DMM! I'm knee deep in this CNC stuff anyway, so I guess I need some kind of testing equipment sooner or later. Thanks for the answer. I'll update as soon as I have the readings. Jordan. |
