Control Circuit for VFD

Hi guys,
I have recently purchased 2.2KW PUMA VFD.. I have to install it on my CNC Converted Mill... I just want to know:

1- How to wire Reverse/ Forward button
2- I have seen some dials on machines that are used to increase / decrease the speed of the spindle motor.. Are these dials are special one or just Potentiometer.. I want to know what rating of these dials?
3- The circuit for controlling the VFD via Mach3.

Best Regards

It depends on whether you want manual control or M3/M4 through Mach as well as analogue control input, the manual pot would be 5-10K linear pot.

Thanks Al,
I want to control through Mach3... However, I am confused, How can be manual control of Reverse Forward direction of motor through the remote switches wired to the VFD!!!..

In the VFD the Reverse, Forward and Stop connections are given.. Should i use Normal Switches or something else..

For the Manual Linear Pot, Should i get from the radio mechanic workshop?.. Can i use Stereo/Volume control or something else?
Thanks for the reply.

For machine controlled fwd/rev you need two relays controlled from Mach.
Manually you can use two simple push button maintained buttons or if the VFD allows it, momentary style, depending whether the VFD has options for this control, the manual should describe the fwd/rev hook up.
If you use a pot for control you need a linear one, volume controls are logarithmic taper.
For speed control from Mach you need a PWM to analogue converter.

It appears that the drive supports modbus communications. You might want to consider that as an option.

Hi Al,
For machine controlled fwd/rev you need two relays controlled from Mach.

What relay should i use? Can you help me completing the attached sketch for the relay?..

IN ATTACHED SKETCH hOW THE RELAY WILL BE INSTALLED??

Krak:
Yes the VFD support modbus communication but the hardware for it is little expensive for me!!

If the VFD has sourcing inputs, which it appears it has, as the inputs are switched to common.
Then in that case you should be able to connect the collector outputs, 4 & 4 each to SR & SF direct.
A relay was mentioned in order to get isolation, but you will get that through the opto's.
