Question Where to get stepper motor hookup wire

I dont know if anyone else is having this problem but I cant for the life of me find 8 conductor cable/wire for my stepper motors. I have the 8 lead stepper motors (5718M-02E-03) and need to find wiring to connect them to the hobbycnc driver board. The colors are red, blue, green, black, red-white, blue-white, green-white and black-white.

I did find a red, green, blue, black and white stranded wires (sold separately) that I can get 100' of each for $28 plus shipping. Is that reasonable to buy that an go through the extra work??

Where do you get your stepper motor hookup wire???

Hi SM. Welcome to the Zone!

Stepper motor wiring to the BOB is always only 4 wires. You end up doubling 4 of the 8 wires from the motor. So we all use 4 conductor wire, or twin twisted pair shielded cable with a drain wire.

If you are not going to use more than 3.5A per motor, there's a whole bunch of motor wire sources in this link:

And here's some basic CNC info that might be helpful to you:

CreviceReamer has a list of places on his site: http://crevicereamer.com/Page__57.html

If you connecting them Bipolar Parallel, you only need 4 conductors, you can join the motor leads appropriately and connect them to the wire.

I think I need 6 wires

The driver board I am going to use is a unipolar driver only and needs 6 wires to operate so you are right I dont need 8 but I need 6 not 4 which is the bipolar version. But your links are awesome anyhow. Thanks for replying so quick.

Side note: Im using the Hobbycnc pro driver board so its all one unit BOB and drivers.
