I have this I/O rack from Allen Bradley.. (it came with another piece of equipment) Someone told me this model is obsolete but this unit looks like its in very good condition.. Is there a way to get software for this??? Does Allen Bradley give it away when its this old?? Or is is public domain or something equivelent? What does it cost? What needs to be done to get this unit operational and what are its capabilities? There is an inset in the picture of a closeup of what is printed on the front of the units. Thanks! Murph |

| That look like the old 1771 series of PLC, very powerfull in its day but it is considered obsolete now, I don't know wether you can still get the software for it, maybe off ebay, as AB charge an arm and a leg for hardware and software. I used to program them once upon a time but it has been generally replaced by the SLC500 series. Even if you get the software, you either need their program terminal or a special card in a PC slot. | For sure check ebay for a programming card, if there is not one with what you have, as well try and talk to the local tech college, they may be able to help. With the dealings i have had with AB they don't given anything away and there is no public domain from them. One of the upgrades we do is to upgrade older plc's to new stuff. Mostly out of the need for new equipment. I will talk to the tech at work and see what he says about the boards you have.
