So last week, before the weekend, I noticed that my 3 Phase motor RPM was going up and down about 10 RPM, it's on a VFD controlled my CNC4PC board and Mach. Now getting back to work I noticed the keyboard lights go on and off, making it temporarily not work, and the range to my USB wireless mouse has always been about 1 foot. It's a converted lathe to CNC. About a month ago I tried to turn the computer on and the power supply was blown. So I installed a used power supply I had and it worked up until now. I could give a ton of details about my system but to me it seems as though the system power is weak as it has to support multiple keyboards, multiple mice, the constant power to the motor speed control and all that jazz. So if anyone has any thoughts other than changing the power supply to something new, as I have a real nice Antec power supply in the box? |

| Well no one responded, but I guess I'll respond to my own post as it might help someone in the furture. The computer I was using was old a P4 2 GZ and it only had 2 USB ports in back. So I'm guessing the problem wasn't just the power supply, but it just can't handle something, maybe all the signsl..who knows. I started off by changing the power supply to a brand new 350 Watt Antec and it didn't even turn on then, so I gave up and just got one of the many surplus computers I have in my attic, this one was an AMD 2500+, which is 1.75GHZ and 1 GB of Ram. Installed a HDD and installed fesh copy of XP. Everythign works good but I still have the speed up and slow down of the motor. So I used the same profile and hooked up my Bridgeport to it, OH I used the same electronics for all my CNC machines because at the time I could afford three version of the same stuff, I just use quick disconnect. Turns out the BP motor doesn't surge so it's the motor. So it looks like I had two different problems. The motor came off ebay and I got it real cheap as when it came a piece of casting was broken off and it the bearings made lots of noise so the discounted it. I think I got the motor, 2hp 3ph, for $20 not inlcuding shipping. I've got a 1 3/4 HP treadmill motor I'm going to use. |
