Wiring support doodads

I've seen them everywhere, but have no idea what they're called, and can't find them in any catalogs.

Usually a whitish or clear plastic thing which looks like the letter "P" from the side, but with two legs instead of one.

A hole through the leg for a screw, and a bigger hole in the top of the P where the wire goes through.

Very handy for making wire bundles stay somewhere that you want them to stay.

What are these doodads called, and what types of stores are most likely to have them?

Thanks

Tom

Tom,

It is called a nylon cable clamp.

Home Depot, Radio Shack or any electrical supply house would stock them.

eBay also has several listings.

Buy me a Beer?

There is also adhesive tie wrap clamps that will work for many wire bundle sizes.

I've had way too many of those adhesive type clamps hanging loose in my office.

Suppose there are applications where they work, but....

They seem to work best on smooth metal, I have had a devil of a job getting them off old panels that I have re-used.

I might try them again on my main power panel. It is a smooth metal panel box, and might be a suitable use.

I find that cleaning the surface with brake cleaner or any solvent that leaves no residue makes them almost unremoveable.

I was thinking about using alcohol pads, which I always have boxes and boxes of.

I found that there is also a big difference between one double sided tape and another,
Someone gave me a sample roll of the 3M industrial quality, this stuff will remove paint after its been on for some time.
It seems the longer its on the harder the stick!!

I would do a test to be sure but as long as they are just alcohol and nothing else they should work fine.

3M always seems to make the best stuff.
