Hey ya'll, stupid question alert. I have the Xylotex driver and am interested in the CNC4PC breakout board. My question is this. The breakout board connects to the printer port in the same way that the Xylo does now, correct? With the ribbon cable? How do I connect the Xylo to the breakout board then? Thanks in advance. Lee

| You'd have to make your own cable, or hack the one that comes with the Xylotex. Do you have the newer Xylotex with terminals for the unused pins? If so, it might be easier to make your own breakout board.

| Thanks Gerry. I do have the newer Xylotex. I also have a spare. I was just liked the idea of the isolation of the port. It sounds like it will be a lot of effort and the money to worry about though. I guess it would be kinda like insurance. You may never need it, but you gotta pay anyway. I will just use the Xylo and see how that goes. I am awaare that I need to use extreme cae. ![]() Know of any schematics for the home and limit switches. I saw those on the Xylo site. Just a little to vague for this laymen. I can use it though. Thanks again. Lee

| I use a pmd breakout board with a xylotex board. It was fairly simple to make a cable to connect it (I have an older 3 axis xylotex). The breakout board is great and makes things like switch connections etc a breeze. Mine has an on board relay, which makes 120v control for something like a spindle or coolant control very simple. I highly recommend using one. Especially one that has a charge pump feature for use with programs like Mach2... it shuts down the machine when any software error is noted during a run. It can save damage and errors before it happens. -Marc |
