Hi folks, I am building a variation of JGRO's router (build log here... http://cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6244) and I recently decided I had to upgrade the board/motor set up I had as I was just not getting the speed I needed to use the machine. I decided to go with the major 3 axis package from Hobby CNC with the intention of running it at a higher voltage than my current computer power supply. This package comes with all the parts for a suitable power supply except for the transformer. I have tried to source a suitable transformer within Canada to try and avoid the border taxes (I got hit for $50 on the package when it crossed the border) as I am medically disabled and on a very fixed income. I have tried online and scoured the local yellow pages but the only place I found was an electrical distributor in the nearest city (Windsor, ON) who could order in the recommended Hammond transformer at a cost of $80+ CDN plus taxes (ouch!). Can anyone recommend a source for suitable power transformers (either new or surplus) within Canada? The specs call for 30VAC at 10A (300VA?) as the ideal size but 24VAC at 10A (240VA?) will do the job too. Any help will be greatfully appreciated .Larry |

| You can also get transformers from these sites : http://www.active-tech.ca http://www.addison-electronique.com/ I'm getting most of the parts I need from them. Addison is more or less an electronic surplus depot, if it's not on their catalog, they probably have it in stock bu you need to call. Try those ! I know Active got Hammond Mfg transformers. |
