What encoder choices have you guys made for your retrofits? I know it is a vague question, but what are your thoughts on different brands and features. Likes and dislikes of others, best supplier and best after purchase support. TIA, Todd |

| I have mainly used Renco through-hole type, they have recently been taken over by Heidenhain, so I don't know what the service will be like in the future. The Heidenhain encoder line itself has typically been the most expensive. If the motor will allow for it the through-hole is generally the most economical and easier to fit, no coupler required. Al.

| On my knee-mill (with HP-UHU drives) I initially went with USDigital E7P's but had nothing but trouble with them. Replaced them with some Renco R35i's instead which has worked like a charm. On another system I've used the capacitive sensing encoders from AMT, the AMT102 and AMT103 with their differential linedrive circuit which has also worked fine (and the price is nice). The accuracy may not be as good as on a high resolution optical encoder but for most applications they I'd say they'll be fine - YMMV. /Henrik. |

| Renishaw linear reflective system... no worries works like a charm.. albeit expesive charm. Just getting on with RFS g;lass scales now owned by Heidenhan.. initial outcomes good.. having problems in other areas to be able to definitely evaluate glass scales |
