    What Power Supply?

Ok, as I am getting into the construction phaser of my CNC router - I have been putting off this part.

I am using Gecko G320s and Servos from Jeff @ HomeCNC. I need to find a powersupply that will work with this set-up. Sadly, I am not savvy enough to build my own. So, any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Here are the specs on my Servos:

Building one is not hard at all.
If it's not nailed down, it's mine.
If I can pry it loose, it's not nailed down.

Darn those are "pee wee" servos......so 36 VDC at 3 amps for each......so what you need is a 36 VDC power supply with a 10 amp rating and surge capability of double that......can you wire stuff?

Jeff that sold me the servos also sent a PDF with some schematics for making a power-supply. It looks pretty straight-forward, but I'm only used to working with DC...

JavaDog....well the only problem with working with AC is to wire the Line and Neutral correctly to your AC power switch. I suspect that Jeff sent you a schematic of a power supply built with a toroidal transformer?

Yes, I believe so. I would post the diagram he sent, but it is something he includes with his auctions - so I don't want to post it unless he says OK.

    I'll take a look.

So, where does one source a toroidal transformer? How do I know what one is the right one?

Toroid search on ebay.....you'll need something in the 25 to 27 VAC Secondary at 15 to 20 amps.

If you click on "order" then "prices" you will find everything needed. For a 625 va and 750 va torroid you are looking at almost $100. -OUCH-
Maybe I'm too much of a tightwad, I would rather find a surplus one and rewind it.

    I got my 1200VA toroid from: http://www.avellindberg.com

Plitron wanted $112 dollars for the toroid that I got from avel lindberg for around $80.

Plitron also quoted 4-5 week delivery -- Avel Lindberg had it in stock. I also saved shipping because they are here in Connecticut.

    Just a happy customer.

    Javadog,
For my transformer, I re-wound the secondary of a microwave and it does just fine. You will find a "how to" on the Zone at:
