Modio Help - 5v linear actuator with potentiometer | | First off, my head is spinning.
I am using peter homann's modio board and could really use some help.
Here is what i am trying to do.
1.) My z drive is a very small linear actuator, that has a potentiemeter. I would like to be able to extend and retract the actuator, but since I dont want to damage it, I want to use the potentiemeter to determine when it is fully extended and when it is retracted.
To extend actuator, simply apply 5v and it extends, to retract reverse polariity.
to get a reading from the potentiemeter, it uses three wires, 1 for wiper, 1 for negative rail and one for positive rail. apply power to negative and postive rail and the wiper gives a reading for different positions.
Here is excerpt from site: "Position of the actuator stroke can be monitored by providing any stable low and high reference voltage on pins 1 & 4, then reading the position signal on pin 5. The voltage on pin 5 will vary linearly between the two reference voltages in proportion to the position of the actuator stroke."
Question is, how to wire this using the modio? If I am using the internal power supply, I should be able to connect the actuator to gnd and dout1, which should provide power:
Question: how do I control retraction/extension of actuator in mach3?
Question: How to wire the potentiemeter to determine position and how do I read the response in mach 3.
Even if you dont know all of the answers, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
