DNC Problems

I am trying to transfer programs to and from a old cincinatti lathe with an acromatic 850 control.
I am using dcdnc sofware and especially on the newr laptop I am getting a Device Overflow alarm. The fifo buffers are turned all the way down, does anyone have any ideas?

Are you using a USB to Serial adapter? I've had handshake problems with these types of devices and have gone to a Quatech PCMCIA to Serial adapter.
