    Problem with stepper motor stuttering

I'd like to start by saying I am a noob at this so forgive me if I use incorrect terminology.
I recently bought a Hobby CNC package to go on my taig tabletop mill. I am having problems with the stepper motor stuttering and just outright stopping, however its evident its still trying to turn. I would say it sounds like classic binding problems, however it still does it even when the motor is in hand.

The stepper motors that came in the kit are
    23-305-DS8A
    4.2v 3a 1.4r

    The software is Mach3

The controller board is also from HobbyCNC and came in the kit.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

    Keith

    sounds like...

if it happens as you turn it by hand, if that is what you meant then I'de say it's a motor hardware problem otherwise check this out - http://www.machsupport.com/forum/ind...ic,1187.0.html
You access 'motor tuning' in the config menu. Hope it helps.
