That is called "constant surface speed" machining.
If you want to use fixed RPM, use a G97 instead.
Anyone have an idea for this problem.
this machin when a g96 is used to turn machine will slow down the closer it gets to centerline the speed back up the farther it gets away from centerline.
It is a CMS GT 27 lathe

Yes I know it is Constant surface speed.
Problem is that it should not slow down closer to centerline then speed back up the farther from center you go.That is completely backwards of how a G96 should work or any lathe I've ever seen.

Almost sounds like your Y axis is reversed.

Thats ok,got it now.
For some reason it lost home position for X axis.Re homed the machine and all good now
