I hope this is the right place, if not forgive me and maybe shove me in the right direction. I have acquired an old Techno Isel (approx. 15 yrs old) 3 axis gantry table. I would like to make an engraver out of it but the Techno rep told me that I would need to retrofit it to servos at +$5k to start with. This is an old stepper motor driven system with no software or manuals. Is there someplace the get the stuff I need or can I use something other than Techno ie. generic/cheap/free software? I have an old DOS computer and a newer Windows XP system I can use.
Thanks,
LJG
If the drives take step and direction signals, you could use TurboCNC on DOS or Mach3 on XP. If they don't, you could upgrade the drives to something that does, like Geckos.
