Other stepper motor motion programs, not NC specifically?

    Hello everyone.
Is there software to control steppers via some interface, like for example if I would want to control a webcam motion with 2 axis and made my jig with a couple of steppers, some easy interface to move them?

Or telescope, or a sentry gun or a cantenna or any other thing.
In case of a camera maybe there is a software which even has the video displayed on the same window as the axis controls.

    Thank you.
    Konstantin.

    P.S.
A air sentry gun with a web cam and a laser pointer would be awesome. Think of the possibilities.

look on ebay right now, under stepper controller. there is a box and software available that will control up to 8 steppers, but if you really only need two motors , there is a program called quickstep that will control 3 its 55 dollars and uses the simplest of controllers that you can either buy or build yourself.

I meant only software wise control, STEP/DIR output based simple directional movement without Gcode processing of anything.
Kind of like PAN/TILT interface for windows.

well the programs i mentioned have simple jog buttons that could be used for up down left and right, or diagonal combinations. quick step also has a learn function with which you can move the motors via the buttons and record your actions as you go, this would make it possible to program a preset scan pattern. I know its more that what you are looking for, there is also a program used to check the operation of stepper drivers called ???? stepchecker? stepperchecker? someone out there know what im talking about? its a very simple test program maybe just what you need.
