we have an old manual lathe that has been retrofitted with a complete heidenhain system. encoders, servos, software and so on. it is an old teach-in system, manual plus M. the retrofitting was done like 10 years ago and the hardware is probably that old but the software is maybe 15 years old.
my question is if it's possible to just take the servos, enconder and the servo drivers and throw away the rest in order to connect it to maybe a regular breakout board and run it with mach3, nc studio or something.
i know its not much to go on with the information i've given but i was hoping if someone knew something about these older heidenhain systems.
if not, i will post more information and pictures tomorrow.
The encoders, inverter and motors can be used with the latest Heidenhain.
