Isel EP-1090 control and design software

    Gentlemen,

I was recently given an Isel Automation EP-1090 3-axis machine. This machine is in perfect condition, the trouble is I received no software to control it. I have been looking for some way to engrave with it by scanning images, typing text, and controlling it from a PC via the COM port. I was wondering if you knew of any software that would be compatible with this machine, and if so would it do the things that I am looking for. I am located in Wisconsin any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd give Techno a call and ask them what they would recommend. I would expect they will charge quite a bit though as its probably proprietary.

If it ends up being too much money, the next step might then be to look at whether Mach2/3 would run it. Is there any way you can transcribe what info you have on the motors? (ie. steppers or servos, voltage, amps etc.). This may help someone more knowledgeable than me in determining whether Mach will work. Also, I'm not sure but you may need to bypass their controll board and add your own breakout board.

Anyone else want to take a stab at this?

    Carlo,
I took your advice and I received a reply within a day from George Klein, President of Techno. He referred me to a web address to download, for free, their Techno Stepper GCODE Interface. It works great and I can now use standard G-code to use this machine.
    Thanks for your help.

That's great news! You didn't have to shell out $$$ and you're up and running. I'm really surprised because I thought Techno would try and nickle-n-dime you for something like that. Pretty nice folks after all

Post some pics of what you're doing when you get a chance...

This is the e-mail I received from the president of Techno. Hope this helps everyone with a similar problem.

You can get the current software at
http://www.technocnc.com/support/index.htm (Techno Stepper GCODE Interface) This will run a program but you will need something that generates GCODE. I think there are a number of "free" or share programs out there that you can find.
