Exclamation received the driver board, not working?

    hey guys...

ive been working on my cnc for a while now... ive build the whole structure and now im on to the electronics...

ive received the 3 Axis TB6560 driver board and i think there is something wrong or maybe im doing something wrong...
what happens is when i plug the power to it, its all good... the power leds are on... but when connect it to pc , with no power , one of power led, and one of axis led is on... and when i connect power to it, two power leds and the same axis is on...and the stepper motor makes noises....

even if i take the driver with nothing connected to it and connect it to pc same thing happens...

now i used the motherboard port to do that.... would that be the case? should i buy the printer board?

or is there anything i can do to make sure there is nothing wrong with the driver.....

Generally the motherboard LPT port will be OK to drive that board, however some LPT ports only put out 3.3 volts instead of 5 volts, and some people have reported problems with a low voltage from the LPT.

Do you have a multimeter that you could use to check voltages on some of the pins of the LPT port? Some of the pins (such as the Step pins) may be putting out pulses which can not be easily monitored with a multimeter, but others (such as the Direction pins) may be stable enough to get a good voltage reading.

Do you have access to an oscilloscope?

Are you using Mach3 with this driver board? How have you configured the "ports and pins" section of Mach3?

Some people have reported problems with these boards, while others have used them with no problems. See the following thread for a lot of discussion about the boards:

When you are not running Mach3, it's anybody's guess what voltages may be set on the different LPT port pins.

So, it's quite possible that the voltage from one or more of the pins may find its way through some of the on-board resistors to the 5-volt rail of the board, and there may be enough current that can be drawn to turn on one or more LEDs.

I wouldn't worry about that - it does not sound like evidence of a board malfunction.

What you have described so far does not sound unusual. In the thread that I linked to earlier, some people have described modifications that they have made to reduce idle motor noises.

Try the next step of configuring Mach3 and see whether you can get the motors to move.
