    Power supplies

Have you checked that the controller is getting power? Start from the basics - is there mains into the machine, is it getting to the power supplies, are they producing what's needed? (probably 24v twice)

    hi Andrew
power supply appears to be fine.
Technicians are thinking it may be the monitor and are trying to link up a
    standard pc monitor.

Not really familliar with the TNC415, but all the TNC's I've worked on have an odd proprietary monitor interface. Not impossible to do as there are companies selling replacements on ebay, but not just a simple swap.

Here is the ebay monitor link LCD monitor for HEIDENHAIN TNC415 size 14" on eBay (end time 21-Feb-11 13:57:24 GMT)

Can you think of many other components that could cause the problem

If the system is not going through the motions of starting up I'd be suprised if the fault is the monitor. Remember the start sequence, and go through it slowly and methodically ignoring the fact nothing shows on the screen. Does the system do it's passing over refs moves or not? If not your problem is deeper than just the monitor I'm afraid.

    hi
i guess you checked that none of the circuit breakers in the cabinet are tripped, or distribution board trips are okay. usually if the screen is blank then its the screen thats had it, had a few exchange screens over the years.

    good luck gettin it sorted
