I will start by saying this is a school machine and I have no control over replacing the controller with something else. At my school we have an old CNC with a Bandit IV controller. Everything on it appears to be working, with the very important exception that the G45 command is being ignored (using MDI). The fixture offsets have been set and we have tried using different offsets in the table. Has anyone had any experience with this before? Any suggestions (other than replacing the controller)? - Thanks

| Well, what is G45 anyway? Is that like a typo for G54? ![]() I don't have any info on the Bandit IV operation. Does the machine have a homing routine? Will it return to home with a G28 command? For work shifts to be useful, you need a way of defining a starting point and returning to it if the program is aborted. This is because the workshifts are established relative to the home position. On the more ancient Bandit 1, you'd have to establish a home position with a G92 command. This could be done in MDI.

| G45 is what G54 is on most other controllers. So to use fixture offset 1 you would type G45 O1, as prompted by the conversational feedback. I did home the machine before attempting to run the G45. I also tried G5, the machine does not recognize the code. As per your lead I did use the G92 command and was able to establish my offset. The unusual thing is that the conversational feedback for the G45 command prompts correctly (but does not work in reality) and the conversational feedback for the G92 does not prompt correctly (but does work as expected)! Thanks, - George

| This is a wild guess, based on the history of the Bandit 1: there was a long list of revisions to the firmware, and not all features described in the manual were available on all machines. A lot of this stuff was just being invented back then ![]() If you have a way to bring up the firmware revision of your machine, and had a list to cross check it against, this might solve the mystery of what does not seem to be functional. Is there an online manual on this control somewhere?

| you must type in G45O01 then you must go to the fixture offset page and enable the fixture offsets as many as you want when the control is powered down with no batteries in it it disables all fixture offsets so you must enable them after reboot you just ype in how many you want to enable on the offset page. mike |
