Meldas 50 lathe T01 CAN'T CYCLE START 0104

Hi,

We are having a problem with a lathe wiht Mitsubishi Meldas 50 controller, the problem is that as soon as we try to run a program in memory mode the alarm "T01 CAN'T CYCLE START 0104" appears on the alarm screen, the machine does'nt move at all, the same in MDI. In the manual says that the feed hold switch or a wire may be bad, but it is all fine; also the A-OP STP SIGNAL(automatic operation stop signal "on") but we can't find it in the ladder, any idea where to look????

Thank you.

GP.

Look for output Y219, this is the feed hold signal to the CNC. This signal must be ON in order to cycle start.

Scott

Scott:

Yes, it was that signal. The problem was that the counter reached the maximum pieces, we found that in the ladder and solved the problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

Greg.

Hello,

I'm having the same problem with a similar controller but for milling. Tried looking for the output Y219 but there isn't one, just 218 and 220.

Does anyone have any solutions?

Thank You.

Gray,

Is it the same problem and the same control? The signal Y218 is the cycle start signal and Y220 is NC Reset.

This is a link to the PLC Interface Manual, it's for the M64 but the M50 uses the same signal layout:

Thank you for the reply Scott,

It is a Mitsubishi controller with Meldas M3/L3 software. Its an oldie...

The problem came about after a toolchange, was going to face a block after testing a program, then the alarm T01 CAN'T CYCLE START 0104 came up.

Now it does even operate in Manual or MDI, any more help would be much appreciated,

Thanks again,

Gray@Constella

Gray,

I can't imagine that your PLC would not include the Y219 signal. Here's how you can search for it using the onboard PLC tools:

1. Press the "F0" key, this takes you to the onboard PLC screen.
2. Press the "Ladder" softkey.
3. Press the "Circuit" softkey.
4. Press the "Read" softkey.
5. Type in "Y219" and press "Input".

If found, the rung containing the signal will appear. Pressing "Input" again will continue the search. You're looking for a rung that has the Y219 signal on the right hand side of the screen (as a coil). Once you find the coil you can press the "Monitor" softkey to show the status of the contacts in the rung. This signal will normally be ON.

Thats all ok,

Somehow it started up ok, but then the problem can back later on, starting to check the wiring, something may becoming loose as the machine vibrates on the tool change.

We're new to this machine and getting familiar with its 'character' is becoming a long process. 'Everyday is a learning day', haha,.

Thanks for helping.

Gray.
