| Cad Guidance Hey Guys, I own a small company that manufactures plastic fishing lures. Previously we have contracted the fabrication of our molds to a local machine shop, but the volume of new designs and production molds is getting to be very costly. The finished product is basically a 2 part mold milled out of 1/2" aluminum plates, each mold half being the mirror image of the other. A few alignment dowels and stud with thumb screws mate the two halves. We have just purchased a desktop CNC mill (sherline 5400) and the IMServ Servo CNC retrofit package which includes a relatively descent CAM software (DeskCNC). I need your guidance in locating a simple 3D software for CAD modeling of the mold plates inclusive of the cavities for the particular lure design. I have been playing with some demo packs and am a little overwhelmed by the complexity.. I would love to see something that is more inuitive. Any help appreciated. JT |
