where can I buy encoders w/Hall for brushless motors for reasonalbe?

Hi,
You people that hang out on sites like this seem to know where to get everything cheap.
Please tell me, where can i buy encoders with hall effect for brushless servo motors, at a reasonable cost?
I buy regular quadrature encoders from US digital, but they don't have the hall. (maybe its hull, not hall, i dunno)

I get mine from Renco, you need to specify the pole count. They probabally are not as cheap as US, but they are less than most of the large name brands.

thanks, ill try them again. I tried them years ago, for regular quad encoders, and they were like $300 each, or if u buy 10, they were $150 each. That kinda turned me off on Renco, but ill try again, maybe they found out there is a huge market that only wants to buy 3 at a time.

If you want real cheap, you could look in to making a true hall effect commutation, the encoder track types are simulated halls.
Halls are micro-miniature prox sensors, about $1.00 ea. You need three spaced at the pole angles.
Then you need a disk attached to the armature with small stud magnets at the appropriate angles to trigger the halls, the amount of magnets corresponding to the pole number.
If you go to the Renco Tech site they explain the Hall commutation system.
This is the way it was done on early motors, and the Hall term stuck.
The Hall effect sensors come in latched or non-latched, it requires the non-latched type.
