Anyone know the South Bend Magnaturn 612?

I'm interested in getting one of these because it's just the size I want, but there is no support for them anymore, and most of them come out of High Schools with software of questionable use, usually sold by people who know nothing about them. It appears that the later machines were totally controlled by the 'Open Source' PC-Based software, whereas the earlier machines had on-board controllers. Is this true?

Is the control software available from anyone at a reasonable price? How about replacement parts? The one on auction now is a late model and the sellers don't have any software discs for it - Should they? How do I restore the machine's hard drive after it's been replaced?
