Question FANUC 20-FA RS232 help required..

Hello all,

I am working on a cnc machine of MAKKINO which has FANUC 20-FA control system installed. I have a very few how now of these type of systems. It is working if i give it commands from the pannel available on controle system but i want to send the GCode from pC using rs232 to it. I tried it with defualt setting of rs232 i.e
4800 baud
1 startbit
2 stop bit

Controller doesnt seems to receive the correct data from pc and it also not sending any data to pc. The Alarm Error #86 appears always. Also I am not much awear of the rs232 setting on Fanuc contorller side.

Please if someone can guide me where i am doing wrong. Ihave made simple straight cable for rs232. If some one have some metrial about rs232 setup or have experience of FANUC 20-FA with BobCad then please do share it soon.

Regards
Adnan Ahmad

Your first problem is you cannot use a straight cable to send and receive programs, you must use a cross over cable for receive and transmit. Then you need to setup your software to match the settings of the machine.

Adnan,

The alarm is based on the cabling problem you have as stated. You need to use a null modem cable to communicate to the CNC. Once in place, match the baud rate on both ends, data bits, stop and parity.

If you want to purchase a cable that is ready to go for the CNC, visit our website.

You will need to purchase a BTR card to make this drip feed, DNC.

We do sell them on our website: www.shopfloorautomations.com

Cost is $1400.00

Hi all,

I was able to run my machine in drip feed. I have successfully used Null modem cable with software flow control to XON/Xoff and freedom DNC software. My machine is working fine now. If any one need information then tell.

Bye..
