Control options for hexapod?

I am considering building a hexapod machine but am a little concerned about having decent software to control it. What control programs can handle a hexapod?

I've heard that EMC has a hexapod module.

I'd be more worried about the CAM toolpath generation software. Anybody know if that is available?

Hi,

Sounds like a great project, but here is something i think you might find interesting. Its a parallel mechanism design that uses 3 linear axes to provide 3d motion. The design benefits from increased stiffness and reduced moving mass, as a standard hexapod does, but it looks much easier to manufacture. I stumbled across it in my research a few months back, either way it might be worth a look.
