I have seen many companies looking / asking about CAM software on this forum and I may some advise that could help in the selection process. Sure some of the CAM software will have a post that will code your machine exactly the way you want with no modifications and others may have to be tweaked. If you find the CAM software that drives all your machines, gives you all the information you need and is easy enough to use then maybe it’s for you. I on the other hand work for a company that has demanded change and I have to have software that I (as a programmer) can change.
Currently I use SmartCam and WE-CIM for programming and have taken all my down time to learn how to change post and write macros in both CAM software’s. No code is off limit from taking the a 2 ½ software to out put a 4th axis using macros, custom printed report generation for operators and other macros to reduce programming time.
If you want to have software that can be changed by you the end user, on your time line and not the software developer’s time line, you may want rethink what software your looking at.
Sincerely
Greg
