I posted elsewhere, but figured I might give this area a try. I'm trying to drip feed to a Dynapath controller from my PC. I can't get the controller to talk to the PC. I've tried several different DNC systems. My cables and com ports are good. I've checked them. The controller is in buffer mode, but always gives me a "cannot establish communications" error. Anybody have a similiar situation? Phoodieman |

| We've had very good luck with Procomm Plus. Correct cable wire and COM settings are very crucial. Make sure you check them down to a T. If all is set correctly, you may even use Window Terminal to load your program. PS: Is your Dyna a PC based controller? |

| I am not familier with your systems but When I DNC to my FADAL I have to use LINE mode. In trying to establish COM with my new(ish) FAGOR it will not work unless my baud rate is set very high. Something about new controllers are to smart to slow down to a low baud rate even though the COM options for 9600 are present. WinDNC and NCNet Lite both work for program transfers but I have only used Xpert DNC for DNC. NCNet lite should DNC as well.

| I have tested all the cables and the Com port on the pc. I put a loop back in the com port at the machine. I tried to send a program but didn't get anything. A tech had told me that putting a loop back in the com port of the machine would mimic actually off loading a program. All I got was "BUSY SENDING". The tech told me that I should see block numbers scroll by. (I have an older DYNAPATH controller). The machine was bought in 85. That kind of tells me my problem is in the machine, not in the PC setup. I don't use tape, so I guess the answer to your question is yes my controller is PC based. It runs an older DOS. It maxes out at 64,000 KB so I can't run any kind of complex 3D stuff. I've tried three differnt DNC systems and none has worked so far, so I think my problem is on the machine end. I am frustrated and past my due date, and will probably have to vend this job out and lose my ass. Thanks for the reply..... Phoodieman |

I have a Delta 20 (Tho' recently the CPU was a Delta 10) I cannot get Windows 2K or XP Hyperterminal to connect with the mill BUT I CAN get Terminal in Win 3.1 to work just fine....upload & download. For me it's the computer. I HATE Windoze serial apps. I was able to get a CAM package to send/ receive using RS232, reliably too, even using as 25 ft cable. So now I start my CAM applcn & from inside it I send/receive data to/from the Dynapath. The receiving machine---either PC or Dynapath---must be told to begin receiving BEFORE any data is sent. (Mebbe you know this.) Still I have forgotten on a number of occasions & wondered why it would n't go. If the receive doesn't work on my Dynapath I must first cancel the job (It displays LOADING) and then try again (MODE SELECT, 9,). I'd like to try USB-to-9-pin RS232 communications, but have not yet bought the adaptor. Someone here wrote that Radio Shack-adaptor works well. Advice re. this is welcome. Dogstar |
