I went thru these exact same questions during an exit interview nearly 8 years ago - and this is for a college course being taught TODAY??? Are you serious??? This is a joke, no???

Tom Peters (author of "In Search of Excellence", written years ago) was clearly right during a speach he gave to an MBA course he was teaching to executives over 25 years ago!!!!

Namely, he contention then was, 'Take the money you spend on your advance college education degree, lose it all on a failed business venture, you'll learn more than they'll teach you in college - ANY college'.

Interestingly, the company where I took that exit interview, just indicated that they did a market survey of the equivalent jobs in their job market. Yet they were asking the exact same questions of me when I was leaving.

Since I already told them what my new job was and who I was working for, they should already have known the answers to most of their questions. Either they lied to me or they didn't even take the time to even THINK about whether their questions had any relevancy. She was trying to fill in the answers to these same questions on the page before her too.

The women in personnel was nearly in tears after the "exit interview" as she couldn't undestand why I was "so hostile towards her".

DUH, if you did in fact survey the market to see how your jobs rated in pay and benefits to other equivalent jobs. You should already KNOW the answers to most of the questions you are asking. Instead of calling in the HR Executive and having a serious "inteview", she merely tried to fill in the answers to the SAME questions you're asking now 8 year later. Surely you jest???

This is classic "personnel department speak". They try to make a job checklist to pigeon hole the person and their skills instead of seeing if they are a trained individual. "Human relations????", hardly.

Essentially, this is a personnel dept's way of finding the cheapest person who can fog the mirror they hold under the nose of an applicant to see if they can sit in the chair and do the task associated therewith that they are trying to fill.

Re: question 12= a trained engineer who's taken business electives in college who has also received supplemental training as a machinist and who is ran the day to day operations of a small business and met weekly payroll can EASILY do the CEO's job of many companies.

But the CEO can't design didly or solve even rudimentary problems on a engineer's or a machinists exam or meet a weekly payroll???. Makes you wonder why so many companies are floundering anymore don't it???

Too many MBA's who MBWA (manage by wandering around) instead of being able to solve business problems via the scientific method.

Do you REALLY want to match wits in an "interview"??? If so, GOYA and contact me. Don't know how??? Your college is doing an inordinately bad job.

The answer to your last question: 20 minutes, tops.
