Help please with 2 dead lathes!

Hi all,

Apologies if I've posted in the wrong section. This is my first post so "hello"

My dad has been involved in metalworking for years and years and has several lathes including a Myford Super 7 and a Colchester Student. A few years back he was given 2 CNC lathes but we've never managed to figure out how to use them properly...

In the cellar my dad has 2 CNC lathes.

Lathe 1 - A Myford ML10, controlled by a BBC Computer. Basically the Connect 121 power source interperates signals from the BBC and controls the stepper motors. Trouble is, we have no software and I believe we are missing a magic chip of some kind This would be a great system but with no discs its totally useless. Can anyone help? Perhaps we can use a PC instead and have some great software?





Lathe 2 - An Emco Compact 5 CNC. Again, no software. We have the cable to run from the lathe to a serial port but thats it :-( Again, can anyone help?

Thanks. Will go and have a look. Will that work for both lathes? Will I still need the Connect 121?

The Myford appears to be a retrofit. The mach system should be adaptable.

The EMCO may stilll be serviced by EMCO. Did you contact them yet??? A simple call could save you a lifetime of retrofit hassles.
