Metal engraving of firearms Just beginning in CNC and have a million questions, but only one for now. I build custom rifles and do not have the artistic talent or time to learn classic scroll engraving. Is it possible to duplicate the patterns and intricacy found in this type of hand engraving? If it is, what software/machine/techniques are required?

Yes, somewhat....but the surfaces cut with a graver will look different then the surfaces cut with a vee-bit.

Their is a finese and...Line weight that I see as hard to duplicate with a v-bit. But with photo engraving, I can see that deing down with a v-bit.

Oh beofre I forget, www.technicalvideorental.com (Hope I hae the URl correct) has a number of video's on engraving. You can watch them and get a better idea of what is involved. They also have one on using Photoshop (Any paint program to do layout.)
