Hi Guys, I am having trouble getting from a DXF that I drew into usable G-code. I have attached the DXF file and G-Code file for reference. I used autocad for the DXF file and BobCad for the G-Code generation. Mach3 is used to check the code generated. I assume i am doing something fundamentally wrong as i don't think it should be this hard to get it right. The issue i am seeing is that sometimes i don't get a correct path and when i finally got something that looks right, the scale was out by 10, so 250mm is actually 25mm on Mach3. /Mikie |

| Try saving the .dxf as V12. I wrote a macro to export g-code from within AutoCAD. It's free and you can download it here. http://home.comcast.net/~cncwoodwork.../AC2GCv039.zip You'll have to use the pedit command to convert everything to polylines, but it should work great for that type of thing. I just noticed that there are a lot of short segments that could be one segment, and some endpoints don't line up. Cleaning up the drawing a little wouldn't hurt.

| I imported this into Gibbscam the first thing that jumps out to me, some of the geometry is not connected to itself. I agree with you Gerry. What kind of g code would u like?

| Thanks guys, I have been having a bit of trouble with "snap", something to still play with. The small segments are a strange thing that i don't seem to be able to get rid of. I used the "3 point geometry tool" to make a curve and it seems to make small segments when creating the curve. Does anyone have a better method of drawing curves? G-code for Mach2/3 /Mikie |

| Thanks for that fjd, greatly appreciated. Hey gerry, I loaded your file and then tried to convert it to polylines using pedit. I think the problem that there are lots of segments makes it too difficult to achieve. Is there any other way of doing it, or is it that i have to re-do the entire object? /mikie |

| When you use Pedit, use the join option, and just select all the lines that are connected. The endpoints must match, though. It should work fine. If you're having troublem, then redraw if it's easier for you.
