    Would like CAM Software Suggestions

    Hi All!!

I'm new to the forum. CNC routering has been a hobby of mine for a number of years now. I have always used Illustrator as my CAD program, and Rams 3D to toolpath the drawings.

I currently have Rams 3d and I am considering updating to Rams Pro. But I would like investigate other programs before I decide. I do not need a CAD/CAM program, but one that focuses on making toolpaths.

I could use the options of machining unmachined areas, as well as scaling the drawing offered in Rams Pro. I would also need it to accept line drawings in EPS format from Illustrator. But one option that I would very much like, is to be able to import drawings with color lines into the CAM program.

Is there a program out there with the simplicity of Rams3d, but with this option?

Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm excited to be a part of CNCzone.

    Jon

Hadn't worked with Ram, and there are so many CAD/CAM out there to choose from it's hard to said this is for you ...... blah blah, but I would recommend FeartureCAM it's great and you can download and play around with it for 30 days. I, personally like Surfcam because that's what I start out with and I can get thing around so it's for me but for some don't like it ....... Try featureCAM.
The best way to learn is trial error.

Thanks for the suggestions. Can FeatureCAM or SurfCam import EPS format?

Vectric's programs can import EPS. Not sure about colored lines, but you can use different layers, each with their own colors.
