Slicing 3D to DXF

I have seen references to a program that will slice a 3D object CAD file and make pictures for 3D layer printing.

I am looking for something similar to get slices but in DXF file format or something that I can convert into G-code to run a laser cutter. Afterwards I will pin align the layers and glue them. Any reasonably priced suggestions?

Is this a one-off project or something you want to do frequently. SolidWorks can do this, but it's not a low budget solution. Easy for someone to do for you. though, if it is a one-off.

Thanks for quickly replying.
I like to be able to do the slicing as part of my "tool kit".
I have Solid Edge but I do not think/know if it can be slicing & exporting DXF.

Depending on the format of the CAD model, most CAD programs with 3D boolean functions can do this using the intersection option. Not automated, but not hard to do either.
