I followed the first tutorial but set it to inch mode when I installed. So I made my block 6" square and 1/2" thick, put the hole in the center. .75" deep to make sure it goes through. I assigned a center drill and a main drill just like the tutorial, I tried one of the predefined drills, and my own custom drill .25 dia 4" long in T02. But when I get to the create Gcode part, it says "No tool has been attached for drill 2" Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm a long time cad user, 10+ years drawing houses. This my first experience with CAM software. Last edited by Truss-rod; 12-06-2009 at 05:24 PM. |

Gsimple requires loading the proper tool in the tool changer. The proper tool is not only the correct diameter but also tool needs to have information listed on material and rpm. So if material is aluminum and tool has information only on drilling steel Gsimple will say no proper tool in tool changer. Also in earlier versions there was a inch to metric conversion error. It would round off tool diameter and if even 0.00001" different diameter it would not recognize proper tool in tool changer. Try doing something simple in metric and make sure tools used have information on material being machined. Some materials listed are probably German DIN rather than AISI or USA metal terms. I admit Gsimple is not the most forgiving. It is designed to give error message if wrong tools are "loaded" in tool changer. Gsimple does work. Also the software creator does answer his email but remember he does it for free as a hobby. When I let him know about the metric to inch conversion error in an earlier version he fixed the software bug in the next version. Also he writes the software to try to be safe. This includes protecting the tools in the tool changer. |
