hello all,
i have a question i need help with,
i am using a 3 axis vmc machine with a manufacturer specific cam program that runs it to engrave some text, the oem cam program accepts true type fonts for text milling, great, but the true type fonts are a complete toolpath, and for a detailed pattern, takes twice the cutting time as its drawing a double lined character.
i wonder if there is any way to input a true type font and to generate a single tool path, a single line font etc. The trouble is the font is a freehand type brushed font and difficult to design geometrically, i wouldnt even attempt to mimic it, anyone come across this issue before with ttf's?, is there any cam packages that can use true type to generate a single tool path, maybe a 3d toolpath with a single point v tool to mimic a brush stroke, (changing widths etc) , i could then just plug the code into the machine and edit, thanks.
