I think I got it all figured out now, Will tell when I try to route out something.

I have been playing with the software on my regular computer but the one that runs my router is a older one that still runs on Windows 98.

Going to load the software on it to see if it works, Will save me a lot of time from having to copy files to take to it.

Like I said I am simple minded and does not take a lot to blow right past me. LOL

one thing that is nice about the software is its portable , you can load it onto a memory stick and run it right from the stick , it makes it easy to be able to work from different computers and do stuff on the fly

For some season I can not get software to load on my older computer, The computer does not like the software or the software does not like the computer. LOL
Will just have to do it when I upgrade the computer for my router.

But do have one question, If I set up the file to start the cut from the top right corner is that point also zero for XYZ, router bit just touching the board to be cut for Z zero.

    Thanks

Yes, It is a older computer running in Windows 98, I keep getting the message of What file do I want to open it with and there is no file in windows 98 to open it with.

to center it to the material then you need to offset it (in the bottom left corner) , xy zero will still be the at the bottom left corner but the code will be shifted to suit ,

in windows 98 can you direct the software to your documents or to your desktop where you can store the images

if you have anymore questions then let me know , I'll be around for a good chunk of the day due to the fact I'm once again repairing the brake job from hell , brake hose was rubbing on the tire and finally wore thru , never trust someone else with your vehicle , i got lazy and had someone to do the work and anything that could go wrong has , when the caliper bolts fell out (2nd problem after the slide bolts fell out ) thats when i thought he was trying to kill me , now i know he was
    excuse the rant

Finally got to try and cut a file, was cutting the file in the pic above and after a hr of cutting and still less than ½ way through it I stopped.

It does not cut in one continues motion, If Y is the direction of the cut it will start stop, start stop, Not just move in one continuous motion and Z move up and down as needed.

It say’s it is cutting 90 inches a min but is a lot slower than that, Is this common or is it the software I am using to run the machine, I am still using Turbocnc running in DOS, I have Kcam on the computer but can’t seem to get it to work.

Would Mach3 run the G code software better and faster.

    Thanks
    Milton
