Hello, we have T&$%$ software for doing 3+2 programming. It works ok but is very time consuming. The problem is that we don't have good enough checking ability and the module to do that costs enough per seat to buy a small country. That does not include the other modules we lack includeing 2.5d and full 5 axis. Can anyone recommend other packages worth looking into as a replacement for heavy 3d with good tool management and the works. thanks |

| You could check OneCNC. I know it will simulate 4th axis, but I am thinking it will also handle 5th axis positional, if this is what you mean by 3+2. They use their own simulation engine, no third party.

There is a FREE option for up to 6 axis machine code generation in the gmax/CNC_Toolkit combination. It can be a very effective solution... and IMHO should be your first consideration. CNC_Toolkit has recently been opensourced.. and it is possible to create cutom post-processors and options... I created a FREE guide to using gmax / CNC_Toolkit.. it's available via the tutorial pages at http://cnc4free.org A picture is worth a thousand words... so you should visit the link below.. there are also links via this URL to video of cnc_toolkit code running 5 and 6 axis machines etc.. http://www.cnc-toolkit.com/gallery.html Hope this helps Danny

| I assume you mean you have Tebis? Yeah, the pricing is really up there and the base TCAD module doesn't allow you to check against the head model. In our earlier days we would define the A axis spindle as part of the tool holder geometry and this worked well. Since then we've bought the simulator module (you are correct very expensive but impressive). |
